Merry Christmas

It's that wonderful time of year again.
The time when people start forgetting what this great country (Canada/US) was founded on.

The time of year when political correctness runs rampant throughout our lives.

"Happy Holidays, sir. Thanks for shopping at XYZ Brand Store"

Happy Holidays?
My ass, happy holidays. Its Merry Christmas, you bug-eyed stooge.
Now dont misunderstand my comments here. I have a strong respect for everyone's beliefs and religions. Agnostic, Christian, Hindu, it doesnt matter to me.
But what does matter is trying to elliminate the phrase "Merry Christmas" everywhere we go. Stores, who profit from the sales they make at Christmas time, and depend on it to meet their year-end targets, want us to celebrate a non-denominational holiday.
Strangers on the street. Taxi drivers. School employees. They all seem to want to erase the truth of this "Holiday Season".

This is not just some holiday that was chosen at random. This isnt Labour Day weekend, or Thanksgiving. This isn't just a way to get people to spend money and have time away from work.

This 'Holiday' is about Christ.
Once upon a time, a baby was born in a manger. That baby's name was Jesus (no...Not HEYZEUS...GEEZUS). That little boy grew up and died for our sins.
Now, I respect if your religion does not believe in Jesus the man, or in Christian values or beliefs. I don't knock that. We each find comfort in our own beliefs.
But this holiday was not created by a team of marketing managers.
It was not brought about by Budha, or any other diety.

Christmas is a Christian Holiday. It is the time to celebrate the birth of our lord Jesus Christ.
Telling me that its not OK to wish people a Merry Christmas? Not returning the gesture when I say it to you? Thats wrong, and earns you a tongue lashing you would never beleive.

Here in Ottawa, I hear it at least half the time. "Happy Holidays, thanks for shopping at Loblaws".
"Hey, have a great and happy holiday, from your friends at Best Buy".

You know what? Holiday this!!! I respect those who immigrated to Canada, or the US for that matter, and their values and beliefs. But you have come to a country that was founded on christian principles and beliefs. In the US, the currency still states "In God We Trust". The Canadian school system was started by christians. We celebrate CHRISTMAS, not a non-denominational holiday.
I respect your beliefs. Be respectful of mine. If you are going to enjoy a christian holiday, profit from it, earn a living from it, or take a paid holiday time off from your job? Then respect me enough to wish me a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

And to the next person who wishes me a "Happy Holiday"?
You had damn well better be quick on your feet. I'm keeping large lumps of coal in my pockets, and I ain't afraid to use 'em!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!

Here's a tip: Don't eat yellow snow!

Video & Driver's Ed

Well, its been a busy week that has gone by, and an even busier one to come.

I have been hired to shoot two corporate videos, on a very tight time frame.
One is a training video, for Bell Canada, which is to showcase the family attitude within the company, now refered to as 'True Blue'.
Although its only a 15 minute training video to showcase their departments talents, its going to require a lot of work, time and energy to do it right.

The second, again for Bell Canada, is more of a gift to a select group of their employees who just recently left to look after their newest call center, in India. Many of these guys and gals spent a better part of the year there, opening the center, training them, evaluating them. Now, they're heading down again. Only this time, they will be there, away from their friends and families, over the Christmas holidays.

So I have been asked to design, direct, film and edit (Yes, Im a one man concerto) a video greeting card, that will include their colleagues, managers, staff, friends and families.
This one will definetly be fun, as I have been coming up with some great ideas for it, that will include full 3D animation, live video, and 2D animation and graphics.
Ive already got the soundtrack writen and scored, and will start shooting on Monday of next week. Wish me luck.

In other news - My driver's ed classes are going well. Ive been on the road quite a few times, with Larry, from Young Drivers of Canada. I now have my confidence and trust in my own abilities. By the spring, Ill be a fully licensed driver.
Fear my driving skills! >=)

Fear me. Love me. But at least pay attention to me dammit!

Happy Birthday Aremis!

36 years ago today, asylum refugee, Jeff Orange, aka Aremis, was born into this world.

The second child of Sandra and Winston, it was soon apparent that Aremis would cause great waves.
Unfortunatly, no one realized it would also spell the end to everything they knew dear in their lives.

Honestly, jeff has had a filled life in just a short 36 years. In his musical day, he got to perform for and with some of Rock's biggest stars; Ace Frehley, Tracii Gunns and LA Guns, Aerosmith, Joshua Kadison, to name just a few.

Although his career in music didnt pan out, he still went on to enjoy the life that God intended for him.

Now working as a multimedia designer and training manager for the largest Telecommunications Company in Canada, Jeff keeps himself occupied with his 3D work, animation, film work, and most recently, launching his newest endeavour, photography.

Send him a happy birthday message. He'll love ya for it =).

And remind him that he's THIRTY six...not TWENTY six.

NEW SITE GOES LIVE

Millions of people from around the world...what?...Too much?...OK...
Thousands of people from across Canada...Eh?...Now what...?...ok...fine...
Dozen's of locals from around Ottawa...What the Hell now?...still?...Fine...OK...I said...I...I SAID FINE!!! Sheesh!

Without any fanfare or witnesses, sitting alone in my office...For crying out loud...OK...fine...alright...sitting alone in my small apartment with my computer desk crammed in one corner, Muskateer Graphics, as is traditional at the Year's end, relaunched today with a new look and a new attitude.

"It's been a very busy year, both personally and professionally, and I havent had much time or energy to keep the site updated with news, information, or new files" Jeff Orange told this reporter.

"I have had many requests from people to add new files, to assist with their projects, or come out with new tutorials. Alas, time was always a factor." he rambled on for about another hour about his latest invention, the Time Machine. But this reporter thinks it was merely the fact that the clock on his desk had died, and he lost track of time.

Jeff has been busy recently taking on some new photographic accounts, dabling in various new mediums for his artwork, and trying to keep his head above water, all while trying to battle high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and one friggin' huge headache.

His biggest project has been to lend a hand in the graphics world to a local band, Moneyshot, by offering free photographic services for their shows, designing a logo, and trying to think of a cover theme for next springs EP release.

Now with the holiday at hand, Jeff is looking forward to a well deserved rest from it all, and will be partaking in many a joyous occasion with family and friends.

Keep your eyes to the sky...And you'll wind up stepping in dog poop!

Back to self medicating!
